What's new on MusiMax & MusiquePlus!

August 11, 2010

New personality, diversified offering & new image for MusiMax

Starting at 1 p.m. today, MusiMax shows off its new image on TV and at musimax.com. Plus, the station is launching its new fall season on Monday, August 23, in high definition.

Highlights this season include the return of Sonia Benezra and the premiere of a new daily music magazine show. In her first week on the sir, Sonia will welcome The Backstreet Boys, Michel Jasmin, Marina Orsini and Éric Salvail.

No doubt about it: the 2010-2011 line-up definitely reinforces the station’s “glam” image. Pop music will be showcased in all its glory, along with the public and private lives of its top artists.

Programming Vice-President Sonya Thériault sums it up this way: “MusiMax is now characterized by its innovative vision, its interactivity and its HD offering – along with a spirit of Hollywood glamour and mainstream appeal. The station will also feature concerts and movies, as well as celebrity- and lifestyle-oriented shows.

Forty or so performances are planned on various programs, in addition to coverage of over 450 artists and groups via interviews, feature reports, in-studio visits and more.

Innovation, interactivity and high definition for MusiquePlus!

MusiquePlus kicks off its new season in high definition on Monday, August 23, and more than ever, the specialty channel lets its trendy, rebellious and daring personality shine through!

Forever urban and interactive, MusiquePlus knows how important music is to young adults – as demonstrated though numerous offerings like the successful interactive series Palmarès, which lets viewers choose their favourite French- and English-language videos every day on the web.

This unlimited spirit of innovation also shines through in the station’s new programming. Cliptoman, for example, features acerbic comedian Mike Ward critiquing the latest music and web videos, in addition to unleashing his sharp wit on artists or styles associated with certain eras. Meanwhile, on Le Monde de Christo, Christopher Williams, explores different themes inspired by songs or music videos – in which he’ll find a way to incorporate himself, to the delight of his viewers! In a more analytical vein, Débat critique (Fridays at 7 p.m.) will feature host Rej Laplanche moderating debates between four opinionated personalities who’ll tackle controversial music-related topics.

Another reason to like MusiquePlus is its dedication to emerging artists, most notably on shows like L’Univers. And as part of a new initiative to showcase promising talent, the station will also present short programs focusing on 18 of these newcomers!
